Blender is a free and fully functional 3D modelling/rendering/animation package for Linux/Unix/Windows/BeOS systems. Blender is Open Source software. Have a look at http://www.upperfold.com/gallery.php to get an idea of the sorts of images you can create using Blender. 

 

Getting Blender:

Blender is free software.  There are a number of different places from which to download it.  There are a number of different versions available as well as manuals and tutorials.  To download for windows, choose the windows version from the following site http://www.download.blender.pl/ (Choose Blender Creator Windows.exe)
